Maxibasketball club VKD Štajerska was founded in the year 2010 to organize sports and other social events, to promote basketball game and to attend on national and international maxibasteball competitions. After competing on some smaller tournaments, they began their international route even before formal establishing of the club – FIMBA European championship in Prague, where they compete in +45 category, as well as on FIMBA World Championship in Brasil.

After the 2011 WCH in Natal the club organized first international maxibasketball tournament Rogla Cup, that became traditional in last years moving from the Rogla mountain to Slovenske Konjice in 2016.

Solun

VKD Štajerska made historical succes in their short sports history on the FIMBA ECH in Kaunas (Lithuania), where they won gold medal by their debut in +50 category. In well known Sabonis Hall they had more difficult job to win the russian tem in half final, while in the final match they beat home team with 82:48. Best scorer and jumper was former Slovenian international Slavko Kotnik.

In Solun (Greece) 2013 VKD Štajerska participate even with two teams, and the year later they almost repeated succes from Lithuania as they won silver medal in Ostrava (Czech republic). A litlle bit of disappointment they had in Orlando (USA), where they didn’t manage to play in final round, but their player Slavko Kotnik was named as the best European basketball player of the championship.

Kaunas

Last ECH in Novi sad (Serbia) in 2016 was the last for the team to play in +50 category and younger players of other teams didn’t let them to make a surprise. More then competitional part of the tournament for the VKD Štajerska were important side happenings. In Novi Sad the club officialy announced the organizing of the next FIMBA ECH in Maribor 2018. They are promising one of the best competitions, as it must be for the jubilee of 10th FIMBA European Championship.
